A revival of Dante's divine comedy

Year: 2022

Type: Publication

Colours system: CMYK

The feature of this piece was its twist on the divine comedy from a love story perspective. This piece looked at Dante’s Divine Comedy as a love story between beatrice and dante. The thorny bushes slowly transform into Beatrice’s hair. This alludes to the prickly nature of love and Dante’s journey from lust to refined love.

The chapter pages all use symbolic imagery which draws links to the proceeding content. The illustrations are all limited to the green colour scheme which brings each chapter together.

Chapter spread

The cover of the book uses lots of spikey thorns which can also be seen to reflect flames - often associated with Dante's divine comedy. The cover is the key to introducing the progression of Dante's journey and thus the composition needs to be striking.
